More people are buying SUVs nowadays, to the point where some automakers are phasing out sedans altogether. In addition to more storage area and seats, SUVs usually have better ride qualities than sedans. That’s because they sit higher off the ground and are often optioned with bigger wheels. So, what SUV has the most comfortable seats?

The Jeep Wagoneer’s seats are incredibly snug

U.S. News says the Jeep Wagoneer’s interior rivals luxury SUVs with spacious seats wrapped in leather. The Wagoneer has seating for 7 to 8 people depending on whether you opt for the optional captain’s chairs. No matter what the configuration, U.S. News says that all three rows are big enough for adult passengers.

Even with every seat in use, the Jeep Wagoneer still offers over 27 cu-ft of cargo area. You can fold down the third row and get almost 72 cu-ft worth of storage.

The Wagoneer can also tow up to 10,000 lbs and can be optioned with roof rails for carrying larger items. A power liftgate and a Class IV tow hitch are standard.

The Jeep Wagoneer has standard heating for the front seats and steering wheel, plus ventilation for the front seats. Every Wagoneer also has tri-zone climate control and power-adjustability levers for the front seats. The Convenience package adds heating to the second-row seats as standard on the Wagoneer Series III.

You can upgrade the Jeep Wagoneer Series II with an air suspension and a panoramic sunroof. Fully-loaded models include standard rear sunshades and a load-leveling suspension. Critics describe the Jeep Wagoneer’s ride quality as quiet and composed.

What else makes the Jeep Wagoneer so good?

The Jeep Wagoneer also features a mild-hybrid powertrain, relying on a V8 that makes 392 hp and 404 lb-ft of torque. It’s paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and standard FWD, which predictably earns the best gas mileage. The Jeep Wagoneer can get up to 16 mpg in the city and 22 mpg on the highway.

The Jeep Wagoneer has a user-friendly infotainment interface displayed on a 10-inch screen. Wireless smartphone integration, Amazon Alexa (new for 2023), Bluetooth, and navigation are standard features. The Wagoneer even has a standard wireless charging pad, plus 8 USB ports for charging additional devices.

Two infotainment screens for second-row passengers and one for the front-seat passenger can be installed for an extra fee. The passenger screens come with Amazon Fire TV installed. Many safety features are also included in the base trim, plus you can make your Wagoneer off-road-worthy with the All-Terrain package.

The Hyundai Tucson also offers a comfy interior (on a budget)

While the Jeep Wagoneer is luxurious, you likely won’t pay less than $58,995 for the Series I trim. The 2022 Hyundai Tucson might be smaller, but the top-tier Limited’s current MSRP is just $35,300. For that price, you get wide leather seats with standard heating and ventilation for cabin riders.

Higher trims also include heating for the steering wheel and second row. U.S. News says that both rows of seats provide great support. The Hyundai Tucson absorbs most road imperfections, and its smaller size allows it to manage body roll better than the Jeep Wagoneer.

The Hyundai Tucson also has lots of standard and optional technology. Of course, even its premium Bose stereo setup fails to rival the Jeep Wagoneer’s 19-speaker McIntosh audio system. The Jeep Wagoneer’s interior is worth every penny regardless of the trim or package options.
