We’ve all seen some pretty questionable parking jobs, but one Orange County driver just took things to an entirely new, gravity-defying level.
Late Sunday night, a quiet Santa Ana neighborhood was violently woken up when an out-of-control white SUV turned a residential driveway into a monster truck arena, somehow managing to wedge itself completely sideways on top of another vehicle.
The chaotic scene unfolded in the 700 block of South Shawnee Drive, just off West McFadden Avenue. According to a breaking news broadcast from KTLA 5, the bizarre incident “happened at 1130 last night” when the vehicle veered wildly off the residential street.
Instead of just hopping the curb or grazing a mailbox, the vehicle went on an absolute tear through the property. The news anchor detailed the chain of destruction, reporting that “police say a white SUV hit 2 parked vehicles in the driveway before hitting the front of the home”.
The sheer momentum of the crash resulted in a scene that looked like it was pulled straight out of a Hollywood stunt reel. When first responders arrived, they found the wreckage completely jammed against the house, noting that “the SUV was tilted on its left side” while resting its entire undercarriage on the crushed hood of a black sedan.
A Miraculous Escape And, Somehow, No Arrests
Given the severity of the property damage and the terrifying final resting angle of the heavy SUV, the aftermath is shockingly mild.
Despite the vehicle crushing a sedan and slamming into the facade of the house, the KTLA 5 broadcast confirmed that “the driver [was] unharmed, and no one in the house was injured”.
Even more surprising? The driver got to walk away from the wreckage cuffs-free. While you might assume a crash of this magnitude involved high speeds or substances, local authorities quickly ruled out intoxication. According to the broadcast, “police did not arrest the driver,” and ongoing updates from the Santa Ana Police Department have confirmed that a DUI was not a factor in the collision.
Investigators are still actively trying to figure out what exactly caused the driver to suddenly lose control and launch their vehicle into the side of a house. But for now, the residents are just counting their blessings—and bracing themselves for some massive insurance claims.
