The NY Auto Show is a place where auto enthusiasts can gather together to nerd out about new vehicles and some classics as well. Last spring, New York’s International Auto Show was canceled due to the global pandemic. This year, it’s back with a vengeance, and Subaru SUVs may have stolen the show.

How do you stand out at an auto show? Clearly, a clever display can’t hurt. Subaru’s elaborate off-road SUV displays were hard to miss. Many vehicles graced the show’s floor at the 2022 New York International Auto Show, but Subaru’s off-road SUV models were among the most noticeable.

While the show floor itself is immersive, Subaru’s off-road SUV display was a show within itself. The brand set the ambiance for an off-road adventure within the Jacob K. Javits convention center. It was somehow simultaneously exciting and serene.

The automaker made a point to prove that its off-road SUV models don’t quite fit in on a fancy show floor. Models like the Forster Wilderness and Forester Outback are made for the road less traveled. The Wilderness models were truly a sight to behold, but the focal point of Subaru’s efforts and the elaborate display was its first electric SUV.

Two Subaru Solterra models were parked in front of a giant screen that displayed nature scenes. The floor also displayed moving images from nature that were perfectly in sync with the background. Tranquil natural sounds accompanied these scenes. The Solterra models could be viewed up close, but Subaru also created a clever overlook made with materials that resembled wood. This vantage point created a truly immersive experience.

The scenery transported automotive fans from the Javits center to the heart of a forest where these new electric SUVs seemed to fit in naturally. Jeep’s outdoor obstacle course may be impressive, but no other display blocked out the hustle and intensity of New York City better than Subaru’s display.

If the brand was looking to convey a feeling of escape and adventure with its display, it succeeded. The Solterra is designed to explore nature in all its beauty.

Subaru’s new electric SUV draws inspiration from older models

Subaru’s newest electric SUV shares DNA with other Subaru off-road SUVs. It might not have as much ground clearance as other Subaru models, but the Solterra is eager to tackle trails. Subaru has partnered with Toyota to develop the electric SUV. Consumers can expect the Solterra in late 2022 as a 2023 model year. How will Subaru’s first electric SUV stack up against the competition as more EVs begin to emerge?
