Some used Subaru Forester models rank among its worst vehicles

The Subaru Forester is often considered one of the best SUVs to buy. It’s a reliable SUV that also offers a fairly rugged experience. However, some models of the beloved vehicle are less stellar than others. This is the case for the 2014 Subaru Forester, which has some notable reliability issues. J.D. Power gave it an overall 75 out of 100 for quality and reliability, which indicates that most would call it “average.” 

Like some other Subaru vehicles, the 2014 Forester has transmission problems. This includes symptoms like harsh shifting, shuddering, etc. Unfortunately, the issues don’t end there. The 2014 Subaru Forester also has engine and suspension problems. In a nutshell, drivers should consider another model of this well-rounded lineup of vehicles. However, the 2019 Forester is also a recent model with issues. 

Some used Subaru Ascent models are prone to issues

When it comes to Subaru vehicles, many have reservations about the Ascent. It’s reliable, but many don’t hold it in the same regard as models like the Forester. Additionally, there are some models that people looking for used Subaru vehicles should skip, including the one from 2019. Like the Forester, this one is known for transmission problems, including slipping gears. This model also has multiple car recalls.

Regarding ratings, J.D. Power gave the 2019 Subaru Ascent an overall 73 out of 100. For quality and reliability, the marketing research firm gave it a 62 out of 100, which is considered only “fair.” The 2020 model is also considered one of the worst. 

2013 Subaru Outback

The Subaru Outback is another of the brand’s best vehicles. Still, not all models are perfect, as some have reliability issues. This includes the 2013 Subaru Outback, which many used buyers may consider because of the automaker’s reputation. Like the other vehicles on this list, the 2013 Outback has notable transmission problems. There’s also an issue with excessive oil consumption in these vehicles. 

J.D. Power gave this model an overall 80 out of 100, which is a pretty solid rating. However, buyers should still avoid it if they want a reliable experience. Still, the Outback is an overall quality vehicle.
