Subaru owner stuns viewers by cheerfully revealing a $650 monthly payment for a 2024 Outback
Subaru Outbacks are the spiders of the car world. No matter where you go, you’re likely always within three feet of one. They’re reliable, roomy, and cozy wagons with full-time AWD, and stellar safety ratings, and offer plenty of bang for your buck with a starting price of under $30,000 and a top-shelf MSRP of just over $43,000.
Well, they’re cost-effective for most people, anyway. Jenna Kiley, a TikToker from Florida (@jennaakiley), splurged last March and bought herself a 2024 Subaru Outback Wilderness. The starting MSRP for one of those bad boys is $39,960, making it the third most expensive trim.
Unlike the other trim levels, the Wilderness comes with a lift from the family (going from 8.6 inches of ground clearance to 9.5 inches), underbody protection, bronze accent trimming, waterproof seating, and a 2.4-liter turbocharged boxer four-making 260 horsepower.
According to Reddit, most people walk away from the dealership paying a little over $40,000. It’s rare to find someone who paid more than $42,000. With a relatively low average price, most people said they paid close to $400 after a trade-in and/or some money down.
We don’t know what she ended up adding on, but her Subaru payments were much higher
With a view of her clean interior, she was proudly showing off her new car to her followers.
“Me having a $650 car payment because I wanted a sunroof, a touchscreen the size of an iPad, and zero mileage,” she wrote over the video.
She even admitted it was an inflated number, by writing, “Please tell me I’m not the only one with a ridiculous car note,” as the video’s caption.
To top it all off, she revealed in the comments that she pays $240 per month for insurance. So, her monthly output for the car is $890.
Other Subaru owners chimed in with their payments
“Wow, yeah, no. You must have been talked into warranties and extras. My 2024 Forester Sport payment is $525,” wrote the viewer.
Another wrote they were able to get a 2025 Outback Wilderness for half of what she was paying.
“I just got my 2025 for $380,” they wrote.
Someone else wrote they traded in their minivan for an Ascent, Subaru’s only three-row SUV. Less space and likely worse gas mileage, but it’s worth it for a sunroof!
“Same! I just traded in my minivan for an Ascent. The sunroof was a must and even my husband said, ‘But is it worth the extra in payments?’ Absolutely,” they said.
A Crosstrek Wilderness owner revealed they were paying more than her.
“Me too, but $800 for the Crosstrek Wilderness,” they said.
