Subaru Announces That A New Forester-Like SUV Is Coming

According to Torque News, the Subaru lineup is growing. Subaru just held its retailer meeting, and the CEO, Timomi Nakamaru, shared that an all-new model that’s similar in size to the 2021 Subaru Forester could come to the United States.
Patrick Wergin, Chairman of the Subaru National Retailer Advisory Board, shared that along with the new Outback and Forester Wilderness Edition models, a new product is also on the way. He’s pretty excited about the splash it will add to the market.
While Subaru is based in Tokyo, Japan, it prioritizes the U.S. market because we represent 66-percent of their global sales. So, Subaru has a history of listening to North American fans. When retailers asked for a three-tow SUV option to replace the Tribeca, they got the Ascent.
Also, when retailers asked for a sportier Outback, they got the 2.4-liter turbocharged engine for the Outback XT. This model is only available in the North American market. When Subaru retailers were asked what they wanted, they asked for another crossover to enter the market.
Having another model similar to the Subaru Forester will provide American customers with another option. The Forester is the best-selling model in the U.S., and there is room for growth. We know that a new Subaru SUV is on the way, but we will have to wait for more plans to be revealed.
What is the Forester Wilderness Edition?
We won’t have the new Subaru SUV for a while, but in the meantime, we can expect the 2022 Subaru Forester and Outback models. Subaru models have been all-wheel drive and off-road capable for decades.
But with the Ford Bronco sport and other models creating competition, it’s time for Forester and Outback to step up their game. These models will have a rugged appearance package and better tires for off-roading.
The upgrades are supposed to go beyond just looks. The wilderness trim will have a more confident style and more off-roading power. But that’s all the information that they’re sharing so far. The 2022 Subaru Outback and Forester Wilderness editions will be revealed this spring.
Is the 2021 Forester worth buying?
What is so great about the Subaru Forester that we need another similar model? Well, it’s a midsize SUV that begins around $24,795. So, that’s a pretty good deal. It’s a little steep for younger shoppers, though.
It comes with standard all-wheel drive, tons of driver assistance features, and enhanced off-roading capabilities, making it worth the price. Edmunds found that the engine is underpowered, and the towing capacity limits utility. It can only tow up to 1,500 lb.
The seats are comfortable and supportive, and the suspension smooths out bumps in the road. Plus, the cabin is pretty quiet aside from moderate wind noise. There is enough space for four adults to sit comfortably with above-average cargo space.
Adaptive cruise control, forward collision prevention, lane departure warning, and lane-keeping assistance come standard. Optional features include blind-spot monitoring, rear-automatic brakes, and a driver fatigue monitoring system.
