Drivers love a comfortable SUV with plenty of features, but that can get expensive. These small used luxury SUVs from Lexus, BMW, and Acura come well-equipped but remain under $30,000. While many safety features were not standard then, some of the included features on each sport utility vehicle are listed.

For small used luxury SUVs, the 2016 Lexus NX checks all the boxes

When Kelley Blue Book rounded up some of the best used luxury SUVs, the 2016 Lexus NX was bound to be on the list. It might be compact, but it is roomy inside and comes with 235 horsepower to power everyone around town. There is the option for a hybrid NX that gets better fuel economy and plenty of luxury.

Even for a 2016, Lexus added safety features like Lane Departure Warning, Front and Rear Parking Sensors, and a Collision Warning System. Kelley Blue Book gave the 2016 Lexus NX five stars for reliability, above average for the segment.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration gave the 2016 Lexus NX a five-star overall safety rating. On top of that, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety gave the Lexus a Top Safety Pick Plus award when equipped with the optional Pre-Collision System.

You can’t list small used luxury SUVs without the 2017 BMW X3

People like the 2017 BMW X3 for many reasons, one of which is that the X3 drives like a regular sedan. It is comfortable inside and has plenty of room for five passengers, getting between 180 and 300 hp, depending on the engine choice. There is an  X3 xDrive28d diesel, too. Both the xDrive28i and xDrive28d diesel should come in under budget. Kelley Blue Book calls it sporty but practical, which landed it on the list of small used luxury SUVs.

BMW included a variety of safety technology like Front Head Curtain Airbags, Forward Collision Warning, and Lane Departure Warning. Kelley Blue Book rated the 2017 BMW X3 reliability five stars, above average for its class.

The 2018 Acura RDX is an under-the-radar alternative

Even though the 2018 Acura RDX gets overlooked sometimes, it has plenty to offer and still comes under budget. The RDX has a long history of reliability and plenty of luxury inside. User-friendly technology is easy to use, and with room for five, the RDX is an excellent small used luxury SUV for the whole family.

Some of the standard safety features Acura included on the 2018 RDC are Stability Control, Traction Control, and Rear Parking Sensors. Acura also added plenty of airbags to keep the driver and passengers safe. Kelley Blue Book readers rated the 2018 Acura RDX reliability five out of five stars, above average for the segment.

There are many small used luxury SUVs, but not all will provide a stress-free ownership experience. Finding a sport utility vehicle with a history of reliability is the goal, and these are three options to start.
