Skip the Toyota Land Cruiser and Choose One of These Cheaper Alternatives Instead

There’s no getting around it. The Toyota Land Cruiser is expensive. It boasts a base price of $85,565 and only gets more expensive from there. For plenty of car shoppers, that price tag is prohibitively expensive. Fortunately, there are several cheaper alternatives to the Toyota Land Cruiser. So if you aren’t quite ready to spend more than $85,000 on a new SUV? Then you might want to consider buying one of these SUVs instead.

The Toyota 4Runner is a cheaper alternative to the Toyota Land Cruiser

If you don’t require three rows of seating and want to stick with a Toyota SUV, there’s always the Toyota 4Runner. Much like the Land Cruiser, the 4Runner boasts plenty of off-road prowess. It comes standard with downhill assist control and active traction control. It can also be had with crawl control and multi-terrain select.

The Toyota 4Runner is also a cheaper alternative to the Land Cruiser. Opt for the Land Cruiser, and you can expect to spend a minimum of $85,565 on it. Upgrade to the Heritage Edition, and you’ll find yourself spending upwards of $87,000. The Toyota 4Runner, on the other hand, boasts a base price of $36,590. At its most expensive, the 4Runner will have you spending about $50,570.

The Ford Expedition is a brawny alternative to the Toyota Land Cruiser

And if you aren’t quite sold on the Toyota 4Runner? Consider the Ford Expedition instead. Much like the Land Cruiser, the Ford Expedition comes standard with seating for up to eight passengers. The Expedition does, however, have the edge when it comes to towing. While the Expedition boasts a maximum towing capacity of 9,300-pounds, the Land Cruiser can only manage a maximum towing capacity of 8,100-pounds.

The Ford Expedition also offers plenty of luxury-style amenities and all for a cheaper price. Opt for the range-topping Expedition Platinum MAX, which starts at $75,775, and enjoy features like leather-trimmed heated and ventilated front captain’s chairs with Active Motion technology, a B&O Sound System by Bang & Olufsen, a panoramic sunroof, and a touchscreen voice-activated navigation system.
