Some vehicles age so well that they actually appreciate with time because of a lack of supply. The demand for certain nameplates increases the value of older model years. The Kia Telluride is a relatively new nameplate that has caused quite the buzz in the industry in the last two years.

Recent Telluride model years have stirred the pot until the Telluride became the undisputed top dog in its vehicle segment. Other than its South Korean cousin, the Hyundai Palisade, the Telluride doesn’t have any real rival from a value standpoint.

Kelley Blue Book claims a year-old 2021 Kia Telluride base model has a fair purchase price of $31,969. The 2022 Telluride starts at $33,390. That’s a price difference of just $1,421. Buying a used 2021 Kia Telluride over the new model hardly seems worth it. The oldest Telluride model year, the 2020 Telluride has a KBB fair purchase price of a whopping $34,408. So, should you buy a used Telluride model? Probably not.

Skip the used Telluride, and buy a new Telluride instead

Unless you’re able to secure an incredible deal on a used Telluride model through a private sale, buying a used model to save a few bucks won’t be worth it for most drivers. Instead, go for a new Telluride model year and get the latest upgrades and the satisfaction of getting a vehicle with little to no mileage on it.
