“My parents always said… you are who you hang out with.” Grammy-winning singer, songwriter, and musician Sheryl Crow decided to make a big change. She owned a black Tesla, assumingly for its greener qualities. Over the weekend, though, she posted a clip of her waving goodbye to the EV as a flatbed tow truck hauled it off.

Sheryl Crow airs her beef with Elon Musk and DOGE

In her Instagram post, Crow shared that she sold her Telsa in protest of Elon Musk‘s appointment to co-head the Trump Administration’s Department of Government Efficiency. “Money donated to @npr, which is under threat by President Musk, in hopes that the truth will continue to find its way to those willing to know the truth.”

The act comes as many Americans, including elected officials, express concern over Musk-led hyperactive slashing of government programs

Among the shared anxieties is whether Musk and his DOGE team will halt the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s investigations into Tesla vehicles. The group is looking into whether Tesla is responsibly addressing large numbers of reportedly preventable collisions and fatalities involving its cars.

“Musk wants to run the Department of Transportation,” Missy Cummings, a former senior safety adviser at the NHTSA, told the Associated Press last week. “I’ve lost count of the number of investigations that are underway with Tesla. They will all be gone.”

While she got rid of her Tesla, she likely still has her Rivian

In November 2019, Crow posted on her social accounts, including X and Facebook, that she pre-ordered a Rivian R1S.

Sheryl Crow got on the waiting list for the Rivian AWD EV SUV after putting 96,000 miles on a Honda Odyssey.
