Nissan is a car brand that many people have grown to love over the past few decades. Since the company was first founded in 1933 it has most certainly come a long way. What are some of the highlights and features of the 2010 Nissan Altima? 

There are a lot of things the 2010 Nissan Altima got right. The 2010 model is known for having a great reputation when it comes to fuel efficiency. Not to mention, drivers and consumers were able to benefit from the vehicle’s ability to accelerate from 0 to 30 mph in just over 3 seconds.

The Nissan Altima has also been praised for its smooth ride and quiet cabin. The easy-to-use controls give drivers an added level of comfort while navigating the road. On top of that, Consumer Reports shared that the car performed excellently in regard to the brake’s capabilities. 

What problems did the 2010 Nissan Altima owners begin to experience? 

Despite the positive ratings and reviews, the 2010 Nissan Altima began experiencing some issues and problems after the model was released. One driver shared her traumatizing story of how she came to realize something was wrong with her car.

The driver wrote on Car Complaints, “This is a huge safety defect. I was driving on the highway, going about 65/70 MPH. I had to brake, due to traffic. I pressed on the gas, it went all the way to the ground, the car didn’t accelerate at all. I released the gas an pressed again…still the same thing. this is in the middle of very fast moving traffic. I had to put my hazards on, as the car continued to slow down… Then all of a sudden as I was releasing my foot from the gas…it forcefully accelerated causing me to slam on the brakes, to keep me from hitting the car in from of me.” The driver went on to explain that she was fearful to use the car again.

Unfortunately, she wasn’t alone. A driver from Florida explained, “The car gave me no problems until June 22, 2018, then it started acting up making noise and acting like gears were catching and it would release and then drives fine for awhile. Now it barely wants to move at time.”

More and more owners began to notice the same problem. Eventually, it became clear that many of the 2010 Nissan Altima models were experiencing a full transmission failure.  

How much does it cost to fix the full transmission failure issues? 

2010 Nissan Altima owners were probably disappointed to hear about the issues linked back to the full transmission failure issues. They were probably even more disappointed when they realized that there wasn’t anything Nissan was willing to do.

As one driver simply put it, “Nissan said since I was past 120,000 it was nothing they could do to help.” Many people speculated if Nissan avoided a recall in hopes that drivers would surpass the mileage marker, freeing Nissan of any responsibility of having to cover the costs of any necessary repairs.

Ultimately, it meant a lot of drivers were forced to pay the price. On average, drivers spent around $3,000 covering the costs of the repairs. The problems left more than a few 2010 Nissan Altima owners dissatisfied. It is definitely something worth knowing and considering when contemplating purchasing a used Nissan Altima.
