You can finally snag a rare Jeep model from the 70’s. There’s only one small catch. It used to belong to an alleged serial killer. But it might help your conscious to know that the proceeds are going to the suspect’s ex-wife.
A serial killer’s rare Jeep is on the market
If you’ve ever wanted to buy a 1972 military-style Jeep AMC, then here is your shot. One model in excellent condition is being sold online. However, this SUV has quite a history to consider.
According to ABC 7 NY, it was owned by Rex Heuermann, who is an accused serial killer. He has been dubbed the Gilgo Beach serial killer, and the proceeds will go to his ex-wife, Asa Ellerup.
He lived with his wife and two children in Massapequa Park until he was arrested in 2023. Heuerman was charged with the murders of seven women. Their remains were found on Long Island between 1993 and 2011. But he has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
The 1972 Vietnam-era SUV is paired with a 1963 HO/MA trailer. Also, the Jeep is a CJ-5 model with a 4.2-liter straight-six engine that provides 100 hp and 185 lb-ft of torque. Renegade trims have a 5.0-liter V8 engine with 150 hp and 245 lb-ft of torque.
A 1975 CJ-5 model is valued at about $12,000 if it’s in good condition. The bidding war is up to $7,600. However, it might be violating eBay’s policies.
eBay’s Violence and Violent Criminal Policy prohibits listings that glorify violence or violent acts. But the Jeep is innocent, and hopefully, the bidders want it for typical off-roading reasons.
