Watch out, while this article covers a serious matter it will be filled with egg puns that might crack y’all up. Police officers scrambled to get things under control as a semi-truck sent eggs flying all over the Los Angeles highway.

Semi-truck crash spills eggs all over Los Angeles highway

The southbound lanes of Freeway 5 near east Los Angeles were covered in broken eggs on Monday morning. A semi-truck overturned, and spilled a trailer full of fresh, expensive eggs.

Police officers tried not to crack up as they slipped in the yolks. According to Hoodline, the accident occurred around 6 AM and traffic was backed up for hours. Only one lane was reopened by 6:50 am as clean-up crews tried to work quickly for busy yolks commuting to work.

Officials urged drivers to find alternate routes and to use caution while passing through the area. The closure remained in place until about 10 am.

It’s unclear if the trucker was injured, but his tractor-trailer was in pretty bad shape. The top was ripped off while driving under a bridge. He might not get paid for the expensive load of eggs that was lost. I hope he has insurance because his boss might lay it on him.

The semi-truck wreck occurred as bird flu continues to kill egg laying chickens. Due to the limited supply, prices are getting increasingly cooked.

The price for a dozen eggs in California was over $8 at the end of January. Some people have been paying up to $15 for one carton. Prices are expected to increase even more as Easter nears.
