Some of the trucks being readied for the 2021 SEMA Show in Las Vegas next week are starting to roll out. Maybe the most extreme of the group is this 2021 Chevy Silverado. Based on Pontiac Firebird Trans Am cues, it displays massive fender flares and outrageous fascia mods.

These specialty SEMA builds are meant to highlight the vehicles modified for the show, but also the components and supporting cast that makes them possible. Sometimes seeing is believing. Also, sometimes enthusiasts need to see a concept to help them follow along with their own projects. The SEMA Show brings enthusiasts, manufacturers, and the aftermarket all together.

This project started with a 2021 Silverado RST crew ca

This started out with a 2021 RST crew cab, and then was transformed into this wild Silverado Smoky and the Bandit Trans Am-themed pickup. Not only is it wild-looking, but there is plenty to talk about inside and under the hood. The Firebird Trans-Am from the Smoky and the Bandit movies was a high point for Pontiac and GM. It epitomizes that era when muscle cars were on the wane, yet still relevant.

Both a Magnuson DI supercharger and Magnaflow exhaust enhance the 5.3-liter V8 engine. It dynoed at over 700 hp, which is twice the horsepower of a stock 5.3-liter. Take that Hellcats. To help handle all of that horsepower are Brembo eight-piston monoblock brakes at the corners and massive Toyo Proxes ST III Tires.

The lowered suspension, outrageous air dam, and side splitters give the Silverado a chopped top look. Of course, there is the infamous screaming chicken on the hood, and gold accents that mimic Firebird Trans-Am graphics. Wheels are custom-made and resemble the Trans-Am honeycomb versions. Though no other info is available right now, we can see that the interior has been customized to some extent.

The Silverado is a joint partnership between Legendary Concept out of Texas, and (believe it or not) notorious tuner Steve Saleen. We thought Saleen was through after the crazy accusations by Chinese backers of his most recent attempt at coming back. (If you don’t know about the Saleen circus, look up the multiple accusations of alleged fraud, many lawsuits, and much more.)

The Legendary Silverado Trans-Am will be displayed in the Toyo Tires Treadfast exhibit. It is located between the Central and South Halls of the Convention Center. The 2021 SEMA Show runs November 2-5 and is open to the public on Friday, November 5.
