A closer look at the list of best used full-size trucks

When it comes to used cars and trucks, some of the best lists to explore come from the teams at U.S. News. In this latest offering, the team rates all the full-size pickups with price tags below $25,000. So, if you’re on a budget but still need a solid, reliable, and worthwhile pickup, you’ll definitely need to see these contestants.

Each truck is reviewed in several primary categories as part of the team’s evaluation. The metrics are analyzed regarding performance, interior, reliability, safety, and fuel economy. Based on today’s market, this is a solid list of 71 great options for anyone looking to spend less than $25,000.

If you were looking for the Nissan Titan to appear on this list, you’d need to dive in further. It isn’t until page three that the Titan appears on this best-of list.

Coming in 42nd place, the 2017 Nissan Titan makes its appearance. It’s not a terrible score, however, earning a solid eight. It’s just that the competition is faring better.

The 2017 Nissan Titan was redesigned that year and still offers that upscale interior and smooth ride you’re looking for in a full-size truck. It rates well in safety and is a popular truck for those looking for a comfortable daily driver.

Additionally, there are great V8 engine options, trims, and extras. But according to the U.S. News team, it’s overshadowed by others that are just better in all the key areas.

The best used pickups on this list

If you don’t feel like scrolling, you’ll find plenty of great used, full-size pickups at the top of this list. Rounding out the number three and two spots are the 2011 GMC Sierra 1500 and the 2010 GMC Sierra 1500.

The number-one-rated truck on this US News list is the 2013 Ram 1500. The Ram 1500 got a new V6 engine and a new standard, eight-speed automatic transmission. The cabin is “first-rate and attractive,” and the fuel economy is downright spectacular on the V6 with 13-18 city and 19-25 highway.

The next three on the list are all Chevy Silverado models. The 2021, 2014, and 2016 Silverado 1500 are all top-performing full-size pickups, earning 8.9s on this best-of list. The Chevy Silverado always seems to perform well among the critics. And you’ll find a slew of used Silverado models year throughout this four-page list.
