Rumored Bugatti EB110 SS Successor Could Cost $9 Million

Although many car enthusiasts have heard of the Bugatti Chiron or the Bugatti Veyron, fewer folks have heard of the Bugatti car that revived the brand in the ’90s, the Bugatti EB110.

Armed with a 3.5-liter 560 hp V12 engine, the EB110 could achieve a top speed of 212 mph. In the Super Sport (SS) configuration, it had a 603 hp engine and could hit a top speed of 218 mph. Named after the founder of Bugatti, Ettore Bugatti, the EB110 not only reinvigorated the Bugatti brand but it also started a trend of hypercars that Bugatti is still a leader of to this day. And now in 2019, Bugatti is doing that once again.

The Successor?

A rumor started spreading from sources within the hypercar world that Bugatti is planning on unveiling a successor to the EB110 SS during Monterey Car Week at Pebble Beach this year. The rumors also say that this new Bugatti hypercar would cost almost $9 million and have an extremely limited run of 10 cars.

Other rumors say that the car has already been shown to potential buyers but it won’t be officially revealed until it premieres at Monterey Car Week. As a result, the details of this potential new hypercar is being kept closely under wraps. But, knowing Bugatti’s reputation and because it has a rumored price tag of $9 million, the specs of this new Bugatti will probably be awe-inspiring.

Speculations of Specifications

Until Bugatti unveils this successor to the EB110 SS, we won’t know its specifications. However, this is not the first time that Bugatti has taken one of their older car models and given it a modern successor. Earlier this year, Bugatti created a one-off hypercar based on their much older Type 57 SC Atlantic.

Named La Voiture Noire, it sported a 16-cylinder 8.0-liter 1,500 hp engine and it was sold to an anonymous buyer for almost $19 million. Because the La Voiture Noire has the same engine as the Bugatti Chiron, it’s also capable of accelerating from 0-60 mph in 2.4 seconds and achieving a top speed of about 260 mph.

The La Voiture Noire also is decked out with the latest technologies and luxury features that make the car worthy of its hefty price tag. The rumors say that Bugatti will build only 10 successor cars to the EB110 SS, so each one of them should also have all the high tech and luxurious amenities that the La Voiture Noire has.

Pushing the Envelope

This part is pure speculation, but because the EB110 was known for rejuvenating the Bugatti brand, it would be poetic if Bugatti’s successor to that line of supercars is as innovative as the EB110 was. For example, currently, the Chiron and the La Voiture Noire are speed limited to 260 mph because of the technological limitations of their tires.

Though it’s unlikely, it’s possible that this successor line of Bugattis can overcome that limitation. Or perhaps Bugatti will be innovating in other ways, such as creating a more aerodynamic frame for this new hypercar. Maybe this new Bugatti will have a completely different look, one that is both attractive and nostalgic for buyers who are familiar with the EB110 SS.

When it comes to Bugatti and their engineers, the sky’s the limit for what they can do with their cars. Whatever they end up doing with this rumored successor to the EB110 SS though, it’s assumed that it will be an astonishingly beautiful, ridiculously fast, and ludicrously expensive hypercar.
