Sometimes you need an SUV with a little extra room. That doesn’t mean you want to sacrifice comfort for space, though. Consumer Reports says these are some of the roomiest midsize SUVs with a comfortable interior. Check out these sport utility vehicles from Toyota, Kia, and Subaru that check all of the boxes.
The Toyota Highlander is one of the roomiest midsize SUVs on the Consumer Reports list
The 2022 Toyota Highlander isn’t the flashiest midsize SUV, but it is a reliable option. Consumer Reports says the hybrid option gets 35 mpg, too. The 2022 Toyota SUV scored well on the road test and predicted reliability and owner satisfaction areas. The Highlander offers 41 cubic feet of useable cargo space with three rows. The Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 suite has forward collision warning (FCW) and automatic emergency braking (AEB), but blind-spot warning (BSW) is optional.

The Lexus RX is one of the roomiest midsize SUVs with a comfortable interior
Those who want a little luxury combined with extra room need to look no further than the 2022 Lexus RX. Consumer Reports gave the 2022 RX high marks on the road test, predicted reliability, and predicted owner satisfaction areas. It also earned an overall 22 mpg in the testing, or the 450h hybrid returned 29 mpg overall. The RX L has a longer wheelbase with a third row, but it is suitable mainly for kids. The regular RX has 30 cubic feet of cargo room, while the RX L returns 31 cubic feet. FCW, AEB, lane-keeping assist (LKA), and lane-departure warning (LDW) are all standard. BSW is optional.

One of the highest-rated sport utility vehicles of all time is the Kia Telluride
It is no surprise that Consumer Reports loves the 2022 Kia Telluride midsize SUV. It is one of the highest-scoring vehicles that the experts have ever rated. Plus, it has plenty of cargo room! It does offer three rows and 47 cubic feet of cargo room with the two rows folded. The Telluride SUV can also tow up to 5,000 pounds. The Telluride is hard to beat with the latest tech and safety features. FCW, AEB, and BSW are all standard.

The Subaru Outback is one of the roomiest midsize SUVs capable of off-roading
The 2022 Subaru Outback is not quite shaped like your traditional SUV, but that’s what makes it stand out. Consumer Reports says it is comfortable, and the extra ground clearance is suitable for light off-roading. Plus, the Outback comes with all-wheel drive standard. With the second-row seat folded, it offers 37 cubic feet of room. Subaru added FCW and AEB standard, but BSW is only optional.

The Hyundai Palisade offers a lot of cargo space
The 2022 Hyundai Palisade is quite similar to the Telluride in many ways. However, it has a bit more cargo space. Consumer Reports says the Palisade gets 21 mpg overall and gave it above-average scores on the road test, predicted reliability, and predicted owner satisfaction. “The three-row Palisade is an extremely functional family vehicle, distinguished by a no-nonsense powertrain and thoughtfully designed interior,” CR said. The Palisade managed an extra half-foot feet of cargo space with both rows folded. FCW, AEB, and BSW are all standard.
