Rolls-Royce Owners Receive Warning Over Severe Safety Flaw As SUVs Recalled

When you spend the equivalent of a nice house on a luxury SUV, you rightfully expect absolute perfection. Unfortunately, even the ultra-elite Rolls-Royce Cullinan is not immune to basic assembly errors. According to documents filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, BMW of North America is officially recalling 102 Rolls-Royce Cullinans from the 2020 through 2026 model years due to a serious safety defect.

A $400,000 Rattle

The terrifying safety flaw was actually discovered during a routine road test on January 23, 2026, when a driver noticed a rattling noise coming from the right-hand rear C-pillar of a brand-new Cullinan. When technicians pulled back the luxurious rear seat covers to investigate, they found that a bolt securing the safety belt retractor was dangerously loose.

Following a massive internal investigation, Rolls-Royce determined that over 100 vehicles were assembled with fixing bolts that were not properly tightened to factory specifications. The defect impacts the bolts on both the left and right side of the rear seat safety belts, as well as the bolts that lock the rear bench seat backrest into place.

A Dangerous Cabin Defect

Having a loose bolt inside the cabin isn’t just an annoying noise issue; it is a critical threat to passenger safety. Over time, the loose bolts can cause severe damage to the seat belt webbing. In the event of a crash, the compromised seat belts may fail to properly restrain the occupants. Furthermore, if the backrest locking brackets fail, heavy cargo in the luggage compartment could violently push the rear bench seat forward during an accident, significantly increasing the risk of injury.

The risk is so severe that Rolls-Royce is explicitly advising the owners of the 102 affected vehicles not to use the rear seating area or carry any goods in the rear luggage compartment until the SUV is properly inspected and fixed.
