The Rivian R1T has over three feet of wading depth. Its wading depth allows the electric pickup truck to safely wade in shallow water. This would be ill-advised for gas-powered vehicles and most EVs because water can completely immobilize a vehicle. Water damage often leaves vehicles irreparable.

The R1T’s electric powertrain and 14.9 inches of max ground clearance make it one of the few vehicles on Earth that could safely wade in shallow water. According to MotorTrend, a Rivian R1T was recently used for a boat launch and retrieval in Bear Lake, Idaho.

While the pictures of the event are astonishing, true R1T fans expect nothing less of America’s first electric truck because of its off-roading prowess. The R1T Launch Edition makes 835 horsepower and 908 lb-ft of torque. It can go from 0-60 in about 3.3 seconds. This electric truck is one of the quickest vehicles ever produced, so its hefty price tag is justified.

According to CNN Business, Rivian recently axed its entry-level Explore trim to the dismay of many potential buyers. The R1T Explore started at $67,500. The tax incentive could have brought the EV’s price down to $60,000. Now, the Adventure trim is the new entry-level model. It starts at $73,000. Its price will be closer to $65,500 if the R1T is eligible for the revised federal electric vehicle tax incentive.
