Rivian Just Dropped Full Pricing and Specs for the All-New R2 SUV

If you have been waiting to get behind the wheel of a Rivian without spending R1S money, your patience is about to pay off. The American EV manufacturer has officially released the complete trim lineup and pricing structure for its highly anticipated R2 mid-size SUV.

While the company previously teased an incredibly affordable $45,000 entry point, the very first models to hit the streets in Spring 2026 will be the top-tier Performance Launch Editions, carrying a $57,990 sticker price. The more budget-friendly variants will roll out progressively through late 2026 and 2027.

Despite the smaller footprint and lower cost, the R2 is still packed with the brand’s signature off-road capability and futuristic tech.

“R2 embodies so many of our learnings that we have accumulated—the passion and attention to detail from our team is visible everywhere,” said RJ Scaringe, Founder and CEO of Rivian. “Thank you to all the teams across Rivian who poured their energy into bringing this incredible vehicle to life. I couldn’t be more excited.”

Here is exactly how the new Rivian R2 lineup breaks down by trim, performance, and availability.

R2 Performance (Available Spring 2026)

Starting Price: $57,990

Kicking off the production run is the flagship Performance trim. It is the quickest, most capable version of the mid-size SUV, featuring a dual-motor AWD setup that produces a staggering 656 horsepower and 609 lb-ft of torque. It will sprint from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.6 seconds while offering an EPA-estimated range of up to 330 miles.

For a limited time, the Performance trim will be bundled with the Launch Package. This exclusive upgrade includes a lifetime subscription to the Autonomy+ hands-free driving system, a special green anodized key fob, an optional Launch Green paint color, and a 4,400-pound tow package.

R2 Premium (Available Late 2026)

Starting Price: $53,990

Arriving a few months after the launch edition, the Premium trim balances luxury and capability. It utilizes a slightly dialed-back dual-motor AWD system that generates 450 horsepower and 537 lb-ft of torque. It still hits 60 mph in a brisk 4.6 seconds and retains the impressive 330 miles of EPA-estimated range. Standard features include 20-inch Bicolor Carbon All-Season wheels, heated and ventilated front seats, and a 975-watt premium audio system.

R2 Standard (Available First Half 2027)

Starting Price: $48,490

Dropping the price below the $50k mark, the Standard trim will debut with a single-motor RWD Long Range configuration. While it sheds the front motor, it still produces a highly respectable 350 horsepower and 355 lb-ft of torque. Because it is lighter, this trim actually boasts the best endurance in the lineup, offering a Rivian-estimated 345 miles of range.

What About the $45,000 Base Model?

For buyers holding out for the absolute lowest price point, Rivian confirmed that an entry-level R2 Standard variant will arrive in late 2027. With a targeted starting price of roughly $45,000, this model is expected to utilize a smaller battery pack, providing over 275 miles of estimated range.

New Colors and Clever Utility

The R2 isn’t just a shrunken R1S; it introduces several brand-new features to the Rivian ecosystem. The automaker revealed three fresh exterior paint options – Catalina Cove, Esker Silver, and Half Moon Grey – to complement the rugged design.

Inside, the cabin maximizes utility with a rear drop glass window that rolls completely down into the liftgate (available on Performance and Premium trims), making it incredibly easy to haul long gear like surfboards or lumber. The SUV also features fold-flat rear seats for camping and a native NACS charge port, granting drivers seamless access to the massive Tesla Supercharger network.

Reservations for the all-new R2 are currently open on Rivian’s website for a fully refundable $100 deposit.
