If you are thinking about buying a new Subaru Forester model, you may have your eye on the 2021 Subaru Forester. But is a 2020 Forester a wiser buy? Let’s look into it a little deeper.

The 2021 Subaru Forester vs the 2020 model year

Whether you end up going with the 2021 or 2020 model year, you’ll end up with a great new Subaru Forester model. But which one is the better buy? According to U.S. News and World Report, the 2020 model year has a price tag that ranges from $24,495 – $34,595.

On the other hand, the 2021 Subaru Forester has a price range of $24,795 – $34,895. So right off the bat, we can see the pricing is virtually the same. In fact, U.S. News and World Report also conveys that there aren’t really any differences between the two versions other than “some feature shuffling between trims.”

This crossover SUV is likely to satisfy those who are attracted to it whether you end up with the 2020 Subaru Forester or the 2021 version. It’s a great all around compact SUV that has plenty of room for families and gear. Plus, its AWD capability means you can get a little farther off the beaten path than in the tamer 2WD family SUV options.

Is the Subaru Forester reliable?

The Subaru Forester has a history of long durable models that last a long time. Although reliability isn’t a shining moment for the Forester when we look at U.S. News data, Consumer Reports ranks this model very high in terms of reliability. The 2021 Subaru Forester earned a 4 out of 5 for predicted reliability.
