The Porsche 911 is already a fiendishly sharp car without the racing credentials of the GT3 RS. However, the beloved 911 continues to defy reason by getting tauter, faster, and more over-engineered than ever. Enter the new Porsche 911 GT3 RS. This latest 992 generation takes the 911’s performance to the next level.

What’s different about the new 992 Porsche 911 GT3 RS?

The new GT3 RS looks slightly like the preceding model, but it’s entirely different. Of course, the RS stands for Rennsport, meaning you can expect top-tier racing pedigree from the new track-ready 911. The newest 911 GT3 RS takes it even further, with weight-saving carbon fiber everywhere and the most dramatic aerodynamics on any 911 to date. Every inlet, exit, and fin are functional channels for air, right up to the massive rear wing and Porsche’s drag reduction system (DRS).

The result of the automaker’s 250 hours and 1,500 simulations in the wind tunnel is an incredible 1,895 lbs of downforce at 177 mph. Porsche claims that the new GT3 RS triples the downforce of the previous model. Furthermore, the Weissach package adds forged magnesium wheels and even more carbon fiber. The new GT3 RS is a no-joke track day weapon with one of the most trusted badges in motorsport.

Is the Porsche 911 GT3 RS fast?

The new Porsche 911 GT3 RS can accelerate from 0-60 mph in just 3.0 seconds on its way up to a top speed of 184 mph. While that might not seem like industry-defying figures, you must remember that the GT3 RS is the antithesis of a straight-line drag racer. The point of Porsche’s latest aerodynamically enhanced 911 is track work, plain and simple. Furthermore, the new RS ditches its front trunk or frunk for a single, central mono-radiator cooling setup.

With 518 horsepower, courtesy of its screaming 9,000 rpm-4.0L flat six-cylinder engine, the GT3 RS is powerful without being overpowered. Better yet, the RS weighs just 3,268 lbs due to its meticulous weight savings with copious carbon fiber. Pair that power and lightweight construction with steering-wheel-adjustable suspension and monstrous downforce, and you have Porsche’s most track-ready GT3 RS ever.

How much does a Porsche 911 GT3 RS cost?

As you might imagine, this much carefully engineered performance pedigree comes at a price. Porsche says that the starting price for the 992 911 GT3 RS is $223,800 with additional fees for processing and delivery. Still, if you can afford the brilliantly built and liveried track star, Porsche’s newsroom says you can put in your orders by Spring of 2023.

Is the GT3 RS a supercar?

Porsche’s newest 911 GT3 RS might get lumped in with supercars, but it’s more than that. Supercars, hypercars, and world-class grand tourers often offer posh quilted leather interiors with artfully styled interiors and a trunk that swallows up an overnight bag or a set of golf clubs. The GT3 RS doesn’t have time for that; the RS exists to launch you through corners, effortlessly clipping apex after apex. The 992 generation 911 GT3 RS seems like a thoroughbred track car that you can park at home.
