The extended-range battery is the option that provides an EPA-estimated 320 miles of range on a single charge. 

Replacing the standard-range battery or the unit with an EPA-estimated $28,556. These prices cost more than entry-level SUVs! 

Plus, these prices are subject to change. On-going supply chain issues have made these batteries hard to source, causing prices to rise. Pricing may increase or decrease based on how inflation goes.

You could get about 250,000 miles out of your 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning before needing to replace the battery. This assumes that the battery is built correctly with the truck’s specs.

Anyways, it’s important to know that your Ford F-150 Lightning battery will degrade over time. It will lose about two to three percent of its range each year. This means that the 320-range battery will drop about nine miles annually. 

After the first year, it could have about 310.4 miles of range, and it could drop down to 236 miles of range by year 10. These calculations are based on how Telsa models, the Nissan Leaf, and Chevy Bolt performed after 100,000 to 300,000 miles. 

But it’s worth noting that as battery technology increases, drivers may experience less degradation over time. 

Also, the Ford F-150 Lightning battery warranty covers the first eight years of use or 100,000 miles, based on which comes first. The battery should maintain 70 percent of its original capacity during that period.

As far as we know, the 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning doesn’t have any battery problems to be concerned about. However, it will drop about half its charge while towing a mid-size trailer of around 5,000 lbs. 

But you can try to protect the battery. Avoiding exposure to extreme heat while parking can help save your charge. Park in the shade or plug your vehicle in to avoid having the thermal temperature system drain the batteries to keep things cool. 

Avoid overcharging your vehicle. It could help its performance by keeping it between 25 to 75 percent charge. Also, fast charging stations could strain the battery, causing it to degrade faster. 

If you need to replace the battery in the Ford F-150 Lightning, then it could come at a pretty high price. However, the warranty provides pretty good coverage, and significant issues haven’t emerged.
