Is the 2022 Honda Ridgeline worth buying?
The Honda Ridgeline is one of the most well-reviewed midsize trucks for 2022. For example, Consumer Reports considered the current model year to be the best midsize truck available. Furthermore, CR loves the quiet, well-finished cabin, comfortable ride, and other luxurious amenities. Even the payload capacity is decent for a midsize truck, as is fuel economy.
Plus, one of our favorite things about the Ridgeline is the innovative truck bed. Honda takes it a step further, unlike other models that only have a multifunction tailgate. A dual-action tailgate, an under-bed storage container, and built-in truck-bed audio make the Ridgeline’s bed a tailgater’s dream. Even if you’re not one for that scene, features like these are nice to have for work purposes or just storing extra cargo that owners can lock out of sight.
What do Honda Ridgeline owners complain about?
First, the Consumer Reports survey says 81 percent of owners would buy the midsize truck again. As a result, it’s the class leader in this category, followed by the Hyundai Santa Cruz and Jeep Gladiator, which 75 percent of owners would repurchase. Moreover, the vast majority of owners saying they’d buy Honda’s truck again is really the ultimate compliment. However, no vehicle is perfect, so there are some things to complain about.
For owner satisfaction, the most significant detriment to the Ridgeline is value. Customers don’t feel they’ve gotten enough with their Ridgeline purchase. Is that because of a lack of equipment or a high price? We think it’s the former, as even the base model Ridgeline comes well-equipped. However, the Honda is a bit pricey compared to other midsize models. Although it’s worth noting that almost no car owner is usually happy with the price they paid.
Buying a base model Ridgeline Sport will cost you $39,435. That’s much higher than most rivals. For example, the base Ford Ranger is $25,980, and the Toyota Tacoma is $27,150. According to Edmunds, the Ridgeline Sport is well-equipped. It has Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, seven speakers, automatic tri-zone climate control, an eight-inch touchscreen, a Class III trailer hitch with a seven-pin connector, and the Honda Sensing safety suite.
Is the Honda Ridgeline reliable?
According to Consumer Reports, the Ridgeline is a reliable midsize truck. Previous model years clearly performed well since CR gave a four out of five predicted reliability rating. CR received owner reports of very few problems from the last few model years. Thankfully, the frequent fuel system problems in 2017 and 2018 have been resolved. Even dating back to 2012, you’d be hard-pressed to find commonly reported issues with the Honda Ridgeline.
Fortunately, the 2022 Honda Ridgeline should hold its value well. Well-maintained pickup trucks, in general, tend to be worth more than the average vehicle further down the road. Although it might not retain value as well as the Toyota Tacoma, Honda models are also well-known for being long-lasting. As a result, Ridgeline owners will likely get a reasonable trade-in or sales price for their truck after owning it for a while.
