The National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration, or NHTSA, has issued recalls for several popular recreational vehicles and a specific tire. Some of these are minor issues, such as a label. Some, not so much, such as a tire. Please review the recall information below and take action as necessary so that you can enjoy your RV, trailer, or motorhome later with peace of mind. The information comes per a press release from the NHTSA. 

Daimler Vans USA – Recall for a possible leak of the fuel pump

 2019 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter and Freightliner Sprinter vehicles are being recalled. This is a popular platform for multiple motorhome manufacturers. There are 46 affected vehicles. An open port on the fuel module may cause fuel to leak onto the roadway. Daimler Vans USA will contact owners, inspect and install a closure to the nozzle as needed for free. The customer service number for Daimler is 1-800-367-6372. This recall will begin on September 18, 2020.

Xtreme Outdoors – Recall for an incorrect certification label

Xtreme Outdoors is recalling certain 2020 Little Guy Mini Max Trailers. There are 145 units affected. The certification label indicates incorrect curb weight, Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR), and Cargo Carrying Capacity (CCC). This affects how a trailer may be towed. The company will contact owners. The customer service number for Xtreme is 1-888-469-9688. This recall will begin on September 7, 2020.

High Altitude Trailer Co – Failing spare tire bracket weld

The High Altitude Trailer Company recall involves the rear swingarm spare tire carrier bracket. The company is, “recalling certain 2019-2020 XT50 trailers retrofitted with a black rear swingarm spare tire carrier. The weld on the retrofitted rear swing arm bracket may fail, causing the rear swingarm, spare tire, and any other attached items to break away from the trailer frame.” This affects six units. The customer service number for High Altitude Trailer Company is 1-720-391-6685. This recall is active now, and the company has already contacted owners.

Linglong Americas Inc. – Tire sidewall separation

Linglong Americas is recalling certain Venezia Crusade HT tires. They are size LT265/75 R16. They will have a Load Range E, and DOT date codes 2715 through 5215. The select tires can experience sudden tire failure, increasing the crash risk. Linglong will notify owners. Tires will be replaced free of charge. Owners can contact customer Linglong’s customer service at 1-330-239-0404. The recall will begin on August 24, 2020.

These days are the safest they have been for American consumers. However, recalls are still necessary to ensure safety for consumers. To that end, the  NHTSA inspects vehicles to make sure they are in compliance with safety standards. Thankfully, they occasionally find things that are easily repaired or replaced with the manufacturer. But, sometimes more serious things are a concern. In either case, recalls are there to ensure that consumers can have the peace of mind that safety issues are being reviewed and public action is taking place.
