The 2022 Chevy Bolt EUV has been through a lot lately, which made the car, as well as the car it was based on, very underrated in the EV market. That being said, for folks who are looking to buy a new electric SUV, the Bolt EUV is still an excellent option to choose, and it’s better in many areas in comparison to its competitors. Here’s a look at four reasons you should buy a 2022 Chevy Bolt EUV and not a 2022 Toyota bZ4X.

1. The 2022 Chevy Bolt EUV is a much more affordable electric SUV

Unlike a lot of automakers that have raised the prices of their cars due to COVID and supply chain issues, Chevy made a bold movie and significantly slashed the price of the Bolt EUV. In fact, Chevy is doing another massive price cut for the 2023 model year so that Bolt EUV customers can save a lot of money with their purchases.

The Bolt EUV starts at about $33,000, according to Edmunds. In comparison, the bZ4X starts at $42,000. This makes the Chevy about $9,000 cheaper than the Toyota. Even if customers buy the top trim of the Bolt EUV, they’ll still save thousands of dollars compared to the standard bZ4X. The 2023 Bolt EUV will be even cheaper, starting at about $28,000.

2. The 2022 Chevy Bolt EUV has more torque than the 2022 Toyota bZ4X does

Despite being so much cheaper than the Toyota, the Chevy has a comparable horsepower output and far more torque too. The Bolt EUV gets 200 hp and 266 lb-ft of torque from its electric motor, while the bZ4X gets 201 hp and 196 lb-ft of torque from its electric motor.

Toyota offers an all-wheel drive option that’ll boost the bZ4X’s power to 215 hp and 249 lb-ft of torque, but that still falls short of the Bolt EUV’s torque. As a result, the Bolt EUV has a better acceleration time than the bZ4X does. It can go from 0 to 60 mph in 7.0 seconds, while the bZ4X needs 7.7 seconds.

3. It’s close, but the 2022 Chevy Bolt EUV has more max cargo capacity

The bZ4X is a compact crossover SUV, while the Bolt EUV is a subcompact crossover SUV, so some folks may expect that the Toyota has more cargo capacity. That’s not true.

Without folding down any seats, the bZ4X does have more cargo capacity, as it gets 27.7 cu-ft, while the Bolt EUV gets 16.3 cu-ft. However, if you fold their seats, the Bolt EUV gets slightly more cargo capacity than the bZ4X. The Chevy has a max cargo capacity of 56.9 cu-ft, while the Toyota has a max cargo capacity of 56.1 cu-ft

4. The 2022 Chevy Bolt EUV is also a much lighter vehicle than the 2022 Toyota bZ4X

On top of that, the Bolt EUV is a much lighter car than the bZ4X is. This is mostly thanks to the fact that the Bolt EUV has a smaller battery pack, but overall, it still gets about the same amount of range as the bZ4X gets. Both cars get around 250 miles of range with their standard configuration.

The Bolt EUV gets that range number while having a curb weight of about 3,680 pounds, according to Edmunds. In comparison, the bZ4X has a curb weight of 4,266 pounds. That’s a weight difference of almost 600 pounds. This weight difference should also make the Chevy handle better than the Toyota.
