It is not every day that you get to see a white Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 Heritage Edition with double blue stripes roaring down the streets, definitely not when it loses control and crashes into a school bus. A video of the crash, captured by a passerby, has gone viral, highlighting the dangers of speeding on crowded public roads.
The incident occurred outside the Grand Hyatt hotel in Santacruz East, a suburb of Mumbai. The limited edition Mustang was passing by when the driver suddenly increased throttle input.
All of a sudden, the 5.2-liter V8 engine woke up and made its presence known. Although it seemed like the driver just tapped on the gas, many things could go wrong when you have 760 horsepower and 625 lb-ft of torque at your disposal.
The Mustang responded immediately to the driver’s demands, but realizing his mistake of accelerating aggressively on a public road, the driver panic-braked, causing the vehicle to slide and shift its direction towards the oncoming school bus.

Had he just decelerated and braked gradually, he would have continued driving straight. Judging from the video, the driver braked out of fear since there was no person or vehicle in his lane. The aggressive braking might have made matters worse for him and the occupants in the school bus.
Surprisingly, the vehicle failed to brake within a short distance despite not being driven at crazy speeds. Also, the driver did not attempt to counter-steer, and went straight into the school bus, even going off the brakes for a second right after the Mustang turned uncontrollably.
Was it a rookie driver error? Or a case of DUI? Fortunately, the driver did not stamp the gas pedal instead of the brake pedal; otherwise, the outcome would have been a lot worse. Unfortunately, the Mustang sustained significant damage as it crashed into the school bus at a diagonal angle.
A report from a local news outlet, SuryaChandraTimes, which shared the same video on social media, confirmed that the school bus driver, the children, and the driver of the Mustang escaped injuries. It read:
“A speeding Ford Mustang lost control and crashed into a bus in a road accident. Despite the impact, both drivers and school students on board escaped safely without injuries. The incident has raised concerns over overspeeding, with authorities urging motorists to follow traffic rules and prioritize safety while driving.”
