The 2023 model year isn’t a time of change for the Ram trucks, but it is a time for upgrades. In an effort to offer more of what we want, the half-ton Ram 1500 models receive some tech upgrades that could be useful during your drive. Let’s take a look at how the Ram 1500 half-ton truck is improved for 2023.

The 2023 Ram 1500 receives an interesting new digital screen

Ram recently announced that all 2023 versions of the half-ton truck will offer an available 12-inch frameless digital instrument cluster. While we don’t know which trims will have access to this feature, this new screen is pretty cool.

The new frameless screen features nearly two dozen menus and five reconfigurable tiers to ensure you have the information you need during your drive. If this screen sounds familiar, that’s because Stellantis already features a similar screen in the new Jeep Grand Cherokee, Wagoneer, and Grand Wagoneer models.

How else is the new 2023 Ram 1500 upgraded?

Some of the other changes across the various trims of this half-ton truck include:

  • New all-terrain tires in the Off-Road Group
  • Selec-Speed Control in the Rebel
  • Rear-Seat Reminder for all trims
  • LED hitch lamp
  • 12-inch Uconnect5 system with Emergency Vehicle Alert System
  • UV light in the glove box to kill bacteria

For the upcoming model year, a Limited Elite trim is available. This is the first of two special edition models of the Ram 1500. Adding Elite to the top-end trim of this truck gives you more features to take this truck to a new level of luxury. This special model includes:

  • Multi-function locking tailgate
  • Jeweled rotary shifter
  • A unique instrument cluster theme
  • Premium leather upholstery
  • 12-way power, heated, and ventilated front seats
  • Suede headliner
  • Heated steering wheel
  • Bright pedal kit
  • Deployable bed step
  • Four adjustable tie-down hooks
  • Bed extender
  • Cargo divider

The Ram RED Edition returns for this new model year as an optional package for this truck’s Limited Crew Cab model. This package is available for half-ton trucks with either the 5.7-liter Hemi V8 or 3.0-liter EcoDiesel engines. As the name suggests, the RED Edition brings cosmetic changes to the truck. These upgrades include:

  • A red R-A-M grille
  • Special door badging
  • A badge on the center console lid

This might not sound like much, but the main goal behind this special edition is to support the RED project. This project works to fight against health emergencies, and Ram, Jeep, and Fiat have pledged a minimum of $4 million to the project.

These tech and cosmetic improvements sound great on paper, but is the 2023 Ram 1500 the right half-ton truck for you? If you’re looking for a truck that’s highly rated by respected experts, this is the pickup you want to drive. Both J.D. Power and Consumer Reports rank the Ram 1500 at or near the top of the half-ton truck class.
