It’s officially time to welcome Ram trucks back to NASCAR. After a 13-year hiatus, Ram is ready to race again. Stellantis revealed the new Ram 1500 concept race truck, and it has my motor running with an attractive, high-performance design.

Ram trucks return to NASCAR after 13 years

Some fans may have been disappointed 13 years ago when Ram left NASCAR to focus on its retail line of pickup trucks. But now Ram trucks are making a triumphant return to the track.

Stellantis announced that the brand will make a reentry to the NASCAR truck series while unveiling a brand new Ram 1500 concept race truck.

Ram CEO, Tim Kuniskis shared that as it returns to racing, it will start with the truck with the intention to join the full NASCAR Cup Series next.

Joining the CRAFTSMAN Truck Series is expected to reignite competitive interest in the brand. According to Stellantis, 40% of NASCAR fans are truck owners.

The Ram 1500 concept race truck is a high-octane model that resembles the production lineup. It adopts elements from the Sport lineup, including the Warlock, Rebel, TRX, and RHO models.

It features an iconic aerodynamic signature to efficiently glide through the air with enough airplay to cool the race engine that revs over 9,000 rpm.

The new truck is expected to race in Daytona in about eight months. However, a racing team hasn’t been selected yet. Kuniskis shared that Ram is looking for a date for the prom.

While that’s exciting for the sport, it has me wondering where the Dakota or Rampage is. While the race truck hits the truck, will we see a civilian option for the streets?
