Ram Trucks made headlines when it cut its V8 engine option from all half-ton “1500” pickup trucks for the 2025 model year. Even though Ram’s sales numbers stayed steady, the automaker announced the V8 is coming back for 2026—alongside a unique ad campaign.

Ford has dished out a half-ton of cash to keep the F-150 the official truck of the NFL since 2016. Nissan even shelled out for a 20-year naming partnership with the Tennessee Titans, giving its half-ton truck the same name as the team. But Ram’s taking a different tack. The truck company is launching a four-part college football ad campaign—and it’s even hired Terry Crews. See his teaser below:

A fight song, a football stadium, and a callback to White Chicks

The first of four TV spots opens on a Ram 1500 parked inside a football stadium. Terry Crews is sitting inside the cab and announces, “I wrote a Ram fight song!” Why? Because both Ram and college football are “all about power, performance, and muscle.” Then Crews hits “play” on the stereo. What fills the cabin is Vanessa Carlton’s 2001 hit A Thousand Miles. Crews says, “That’s not it.” But he has to admit, “I do love this song, though!”

The commercial is referencing Crews’ iconic performance in the White Chicks movie, singing along with the same song in his Aston Martin convertible. Who knows what Ram will think up for its next three TV spots.

In the meantime, the “performance and muscle” Ram promised for the 2026 model year is nowhere to be seen. The current Ram 1500 configurator doesn’t offer any option for the 5.7-liter Hemi V8 engine. Ram explains that dealerships report the new V8-powered trucks are flying off lots in five days on average. You can Crews’ singing TV spot embedded below:
