Some SUVs are more like sports cars with extra cargo space. For instance, these sport utility vehicles from Mercedes-Benz, BMW, and Rivian have more horsepower than most cars on the road. These are the quickest luxury SUVs for 2023, but get ready to drop $100,000.

You can’t have the quickest luxury SUVs for 2023 without the Mercedes-AMG GLE Coupe.

When Kelley Blue Book looked for some of the quickest luxury SUVs this year has to offer, the 2023 Mercedes-Benz Mercedes-AMG GLE Coupe came in at the top. While it also has one of the longest titles in the game, it also has plenty of power. If you opt for the GLE 350 base engine, it gets 255 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque. That starts at a reasonable $82,195 for those who want an SUV with plenty of luxury and power.

For the maximum 603 horsepower and 627 lb-ft of torque, you’ll need the AMG GLE 63 S or AMG GLE 63 S Coupe with the 4.0L twin-turbo V8 with EQ Boost. It only gets 15 mpg in the city and 19 mpg on the highway, but it is basically too fast for that to matter. Starting around $117,850, that much horsepower does not come cheap.

BMW’s X5 M is one of the quickest luxury SUVs for 2023

Some people might have driven the X5 before, but the 2023 BMW X5 M is nothing like that. It has room for five passengers but feels more like a sports car than an SUV inside. An eight-speed M Sport transmission makes driving smooth, even with all of the horsepower. BMW has different drive modes, adaptive suspension, and upgraded brakes to keep up with the extra horsepower.

With the Competition Package, the 2023 BMW X5 M gets 617 hp from the M TwinPower Turbo V8. It has four water pumps, six radiators, and a dedicated transmission cooler. Starting at $108,900, you don’t need to add much else to this X5 to make it one of the quickest luxury SUVs for 2023.

Even though the 2022 Rivian R1S has not been around for long, it has some impressive technology. The Rivian R1S is all-electric and has two options, Dual-Motor All-Wheel Drive or Quad-Motor All-Wheel Drive. With the Rivian Dual-Motor AWD version, motors mounted on the front and rear axles deliver instant power. It can go from zero to 60 mph in 4.5 seconds.

However, the Quad-Motor All-Wheel Drive Rivian R1S delivers instant power and can adjust torque at all four wheels for better control. Rivian offers a four-wheel torque vectoring that allows each wheel to accelerate, decelerate, and turn independently. It also gets 835 horsepower and 908 foot-pounds of torque, 415 hp from the front axle, and 420 hp on the rear. These work together to make the three-second zero to 60 mph time. Rivian’s electric SUV delivers between 260–321 miles of range depending on the battery pack and motor. Ranging from $72,50 to $98,325, it certainly falls into the quickest luxury SUVs category.

These are some of the quickest luxury SUVs for 2023 with crazy horsepower from the factory, but you can always go the aftermarket route. One of the benefits of ordering fast cars from the manufacturer is the warranty, and be sure to keep up with the recommended maintenance schedule.
