A Texas man just wanted to taste the freedom that a Jeep Gladiator can provide. However, he broke the law while trying to buy one and now sits behind bars. At first, using a fake identity worked for a few months until the dealership realized no payments were being made.
Texas man busted for buying Jeep Gladiator with fake identity
41-year-old Chad Micheal Holland of Beaumont, Texas has pleaded guilty to fraudulent securing of a document by deception. He used a fake identity to purchase a $79,000 Jeep Gladiator from a Port Arthur dealership.
While I understand wanting a truck bad enough to break the law, it’s not worth the risk! Holland has learned that the hard way as he now faces a 15-year prison sentence.
Initially, Holland got away with the Jeep from Bolton Dodge/Chrysler/Jeep/Ram and enjoyed a few months with the off-roader. But his scheme fell apart once the dealership noticed that no payments had been made on the truck.
According to 12 News Now, the Port Arthur and Sulphur police departments teamed up to catch Holland. They used the Real Time Crime Center and facial recognition software to identify him.
Typically, this felony is only punishable with up to 10 years in prison. However, Holland is a repeat offender. He was on parole for a felony drug offense when he executed this Gladiator scheme.
Perhaps drug use impaired his judgement as he decided to commit fraud to enjoy a Jeep Gladiator. Now, the innocent truck is probably being held as evidence.
