The Madison County Sheriff’s Officer sent police deputies to a Love’s Truck Stop around 8 AM after receiving complaints about a U-Haul truck. It was parked by a gas pump.

Witnesses called to report that they saw into the rear cargo department and it was filled with kids. As officers investigated, they found six passengers locked in the back. They were riding in the back of the cargo department, which didn’t have ventilation.

Eight people were reportedly making a trip from Michigan to Florida. Six of the passengers had to ride dangerously in the rear.

The driver, Brandon Campbell was charged with seven counts of first-degree wanton endangerment His partner in crime, Heather Campbell was charged with three counts of first-degree wanton endangerment.

According to Yahoo, Liana Robertson was also involved. She was charged with six counts of first-degree attempted wanton endangerment.

Wanton endangerment involves engaging in conduct that creates a significant danger of death or serious physical injury to another person while demonstrating indifference to human life.

The adults and children in the rear of the U-Haul truck could have suffocated. The heat in the cargo compartment could have led to severe dehydration or death. Perhaps the couple should have rented a larger passenger SUV instead.
