The struggle is real for drivers with a suspended license. But continuing to drive can make things worse. A repeat offender in Florida was nabbed at a gas station. Police officers recognized him as a repeat offender who should have stayed off the roads.

Florida police officers arrest repeat traffic offender at gas station

62-year-old Vernon Lonzo Howard has been arrested again. He has a reputation in Fruitland Park, Florida for being a repeat traffic offender.

A police officer spotted a red Ford truck in the parking lot of a 7-Eleven gas station, located at 2018 U.S. Highway 441 and decided to investigate.

He ran the license plate, and realized the registered owner, Howard, had a revoked driver’s license. Howard also has quite a long list of offenses.

Then Howard got in his truck and turned on Eagle’s Nest Road as police officers initiated a traffic stop. Howard complied when he was asked to step out of the vehicle.

Police officers cuffed him and took him to the Lake County Jail. According to Leesburg News, Howard was charged with driving while license was suspended as a habitual offender.

His truck sounds like an upgrade as in March of 2024, he was arrested for riding a bicycle at night without proper lighting. He didn’t have a valid license at the time.

To make matters worse, Howard had a bag of fentanyl powder in his pocket. He complied with the arrest and said he knew he was going to jail before he was searched. Howard had a pocket knife on him as well.
