Police officers are watching for 4th of July driver mistakes

It’s time to celebrate America’s birthday, and police officers are aware of how wild things can get. With fireworks, this is the last week that some people will have all of their fingers. But driver mistakes can change lives, too. Unless cops can intervene before it’s too late.
4th of July drive mistakes police officers are watching for
Police officers are already out there in full force to protect drivers from the dangers of holiday traffic. They don’t wait until the fourth to strike because people don’t wait before drunkenly celebrating.
For example, I’m already being old and grumpy by complaining about the fireworks people have already shot off earlier in the week! At 9:30 PM!!!!
Anyways, cops are watching for signs of intoxicated drivers. Many people celebrate America with alcohol and narcotics and try to drive home.
According to Gorelick Law, clear signs of drunk driving include driving well above or below the speed limit, swerving, delayed responses to traffic lights/signs, and smaller mistakes like failure to use your turn signal.
Drunk people may drive cars with their headlights off at night and nearly hit objects or follow others too closely. Don’t be surprised if you come across a few DUI checkpoints.
Police officers will also be looking for signs of unruly behavior and road rage. Aggressive tailgating, rake-checking, weaving through traffic, excessive horn use, shouting, and obscene gestures are signs of threats.
Plus, cops are on the lookout for illegal fireworks and unsafe practices. People use fireworks in cars. Sometimes they shoot at other vehicles or drop them on the road, creating dangerous situations.
Officers recommend staying safe by remaining sober behind the wheel and watching a free fireworks show at local parks.
