Unfortunately, cops can lean towards the dark side. Instead of protecting people, they commit crimes and endanger the public. One ex-police officer in Florida was recently busted in a stolen SUV that belongs to a missing woman. He hasn’t been charged with her disappearance.

Ex-police officer caught with missing woman’s stolen SUV

35-year-old David Armstrong Barber is currently in jail after being caught with a stolen SUV that belongs to a missing woman.

He was arrested after family members of Jesse Kirk reported that he was driving her white Lincoln SUV without permission.

The SUV was found abandoned and burnt to a crisp, recently after Christmas. This was hours after Jesse Kirk didn’t arrive at her daily morning walking group and was reported missing by a friend.

Tutusivell police officers and detectives have been unable to locate her in north Brevard. According to Florida Today, Barber was found near Kirk’s condominium complex with severe burns on his arm.

He refused to answer why his SUV was parked at the residence or what he was doing in the area. To make matters worse, he dated Kirk’s niece and was caught placing tape over a security camera at her home. Barber was charged with attempted robbery at the time.

He’s an ex police officer that voluntarily resigned for unclear reasons. His file does not contain any formal disciplinary actions with the sheriff’s department.

Barber has been charged with grand theft of a motor vehicle and a parole violation. He’s being held without bail as the investigation into Kirk’s disappearance continues.
