Lake Tahoe police laugh at truck driver for ignoring road closed signs
Getting in trouble with the police is never fun. But getting laughed at and mocked by cops really takes a toll. A truck driver must feel embarrassed after ignoring road closure signs around snowy areas of Lake Tahoe, California, and getting stuck.
Truck drive used by police as an example after ignoring road closure signs
The California Highway Patrol would like to remind Lake Tahoe residents that road closure signs are there for a reason. After receiving multiple feet of snow, SR-89 was closed near Emerald Bay.
Normally, it’s a beautiful route with amazing views for truckers to enjoy. However, in the winter and spring. The switchbacks, high elevation, and strong winds can make it difficult to traverse.
A truck driver recently ignored road closure signs and became stuck in the switchbacks. Police officers mocked him because the driver was cited and had to face an extremely hefty tow truck bill.
According to Powder, the trucker could have avoided this issue by taking an extended detour around the East shore.
Sure, it’s inconvenient, but it’s necessary for drivers. SR-89 near Emerald Bay is pretty treacherous when snowfall and winds align. During the most recent storm, several feet of snow piled up along the area.
Authorities claim that the truck driver was lucky to have gotten stuck on one of the early switchbacks. Otherwise, the tow and recovery efforts could have been much worse. The trucker probably wouldn’t have been about to clear the pass.
Police officers are using the driver’s debacle to set an example. The road closure signs are just there for decoration, especially in mountainous regions.
