Pilot kicks rapper Young Thug off airplane for disrespecting stewardess, “I apologized a million times”
I’m perpetually terrified of getting kicked off an airplane. Not because I’m doing anything wrong. I’m a very well-behaved passenger. But once a pilot decides you’re not welcome, their word is final. Rapper Young Thug learned this the hard way after being booted from a private jet he’d chartered—even after offering the pilot $10,000 extra to take off.
Young Thug, whose legal name is Jeffrey Williams, chartered the flight with his entourage and fellow artists Gunna and Toosii. They boarded the plane, but then the pilot refused to take off because one passenger didn’t have a physical ID. Young Thug claims the passenger immediately left the plane without protest. But that wasn’t the end of it.
Young Thug asked the pilot to take off again. This time, the pilot refused, claiming someone had been rude to the flight attendant.
Thug livestreamed the entire incident, insisting, “I apologized a million times… I don’t even know what I did.” He also made it clear no one in his entourage was disrespectful: “Ain’t nobody with me going to disrespect nobody.” But the pilot wouldn’t budge. Thug later called the situation racism.
Young Thug and the pilot called police to mediate
When police arrived to mediate, they treated Thug with respect and even gave him advice on how to handle the situation legally. “You can go after them for the costs of the flight, hotel, and missed revenue,” one officer suggested. But as much as they sympathized, there wasn’t much they could do. It’s far beyond their jurisdiction to force a private pilot to take off.
It’s telling that the police sided with Young Thug. On the other hand, the pilot is a professional. It’s unlikely he’s new to flying high-profile passengers from diverse backgrounds. He claimed a member of Thug’s group disrespected the crew, and it’s always possible there was behavior off-camera that prompted his decision.
In the end, there are two sides to every story, and the truth may never be fully clear. What we do know? Even a famous rapper with money to burn can get kicked off a plane.
