Reviewers at U.S. News and World Report liked quite a bit about the 2020 GMC Canyon. They were happy with the great fuel economy they got with a diesel engine. The responsive handling also got big points. On the outside, the GMC Canyon has poised looks with flared wheel wells and a two or four-door configuration.

They noted a few new things for 2020 including an available remote-locking tailgate and the fact that lane departure warning and forward collision warning are available in the All-Terrain models. They also really appreciated the interior technology of the GMC Canyon.

While reviewers liked the interior features, they complained about the comfort of the seats. The 2020 GMC Canyon also had fewer driver-assist features than its competitors, and rated lower on crash tests. Pus, the Canyon also has let than stellar long-term reliability ratings.

The 2020 Canyon starts as a rear-wheel drive model with a four-cylinder engine and a starting price of $22,200. The Canyon is also available with a V6 or a diesel engine, which add to the price tag.

You can also upgrade from the standard extended cab up to the crew cab with seating for five. Driver Assist features aren’t standard, but there is available forward collision alert, lane departure warning, available rear park assist, and a teen driver mode.

Getting into the bed of the truck is easier thanks to a unique Corner Step. Other capability features include Stabilitrak with traction control, trailer sway and hill-start assist, Duralife brake rotors, and an available locking rear differential.

The distinctive interior features premium appointments like an available soft-touch instrument panel, available heated driver and front passenger seats, and an available heated steering wheel. Noise-reducing innovations, such as triple door seals, make for a quieter ride.

Advanced technology includes an 8-inch touchscreen GMC infotainment system that connects seamlessly with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. There is also an HD rearview camera with available trailering assist, which shows guidelines while backing up.

Who should buy the new Canyon?

If you’re into interior comfort and want an upscale interior, the 2020 GMC Canyon is for you. If your life takes you from the lake house to an upscale city restaurant, the Canyon is also probably for you.

Although it can be compared to other capable trucks like the Ford Ranger or the Chevy Colorado, the GMC Canyon steps it up in interior quality.

When you bump it up to the Denali model, things get even more luxurious. The 2020 GMC Canyon Denali elevates your comfort level with perforated, heated, and ventilated front seats inside a spacious cabin.

The Denali extras include contrast stitching, embroidered Denali front head restraints, premium floor mats, and a soft-touch instrument panel. The high-end GMC Canyon Denali is priced far beyond the base model, starting at $40,500.

For an upscale driving environment and pickup truck capability, the 2020 GMC Canyon is a good choice. It offers refinement and toughness in one pretty good-looking package.
