Only 1 Automaker’s Pickup Trucks Have All 3 of Consumer Reports’ Recommended Safety Features

One of the best ways to stay safe when driving any vehicle is to make sure that you’re driving something that is fully equipped with all of the essential safety features. This becomes especially true when you’re driving something large, like a big pickup truck or SUV. Yet Consumer Reports says that pickup trucks are less likely than other vehicles to have those essential safety features. Yet one automaker makes this a priority: Nissan. The 2022 Nissan Titan and 2022 Nissan Titan XD come standard with all three essential safety features.

Consumer Reports has a chart showing which of the top three safety features new trucks have. automatic-emergency braking, city speed. Nissan is the only car manufacturer that makes a vehicle with all three of these safety features standard. Both the 2022 Nissan Titan and 2022 Nissan Titan XD come with automatic-emergency braking at city speeds.

Automatic-emergency braking detects a possible collision with vehicles ahead. Not only does it issue a forward collision warning, it also automatically brakes. This reduces the impact should the collision occur anyway, and sometimes avoids it entirely. It works only at speeds below 55 mph.

Big pickup trucks serious blind spots make the risk of hitting a pedestrian even greater. Automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection can detect when there is a pedestrian in the way of the vehicle. It then issues a warning to the truck driver. If the driver doesn’t slow down on their own, the truck will automatically brake in order to try to avoid impact. In the event that a collision occurs anyway, the injuries to the pedestrian are hopefully lessened.

Because large trucks are more deadly than other vehicles, this is a pretty serious feature. Both the 2022 Nissan Titan and 2022 Nissan Titan XD have this important safety feature.

Blind-spot warning keeps everyone safer

The 2022 Nissan Titan and 2022 Nissan Titan XD both come standard with blind-spot warning. Blind-spot warning keeps everyone on the road safer. While it’s certainly something you want to look for when you’re buying a new pickup truck, it can also benefit you if other motorists have it as well.

Blind-spot warning sends a visual or audible alert when there is a car in or near your blind spot. It only works when your turn signal is on and the car is in an adjacent lane. This can help cut down on car accidents.

If you’re in the market for a new pickup truck, make sure you look for one with all three of these features. While these two Nissan trucks come standard with all three of these features, most make them at least optional. Only three pickup trucks lack all three of these features: the 2022 GMC Canyon and the 2022 Chevy Colorado don’t have any of these features, and the 2022 Ram 1500 Classic makes them all optional. Take safety features into consideration with other data, like crash test ratings and personal preferences before you go shopping.
