The car market is packed with options to satisfy most peoples’ needs, from sensible sedans to eco-friendly hybrids. However, choosing a long-lasting car is essential to ensure your investment cruises past the 200,000-mile mark. Still, one car company dominated the list of the longest-lasting vehicles: Toyota. In fact, Toyota had 10 of the 20 models iSeeCars identified as refusing to quit, like the Toyota Sequoia.

Is Toyota the longest-lasting brand?

Toyota is the longest-lasting car company, according to an iSeeCars longevity study. In the study, evaluators looked at popular vehicle models that could last longer than other sensible choices. Moreover, every model in the lifespan study boasted at least 2.5% of vehicles reaching past the 200,000-mile mark. Of these vehicles, 10 of the top 20 are products of the Toyota car company.

Most of the car company’s top performers are SUVs, like the Toyota Sequoia, Land Cruiser, and Highlander Hybrid. However, the Toyota Tundra pickup truck, Prius hybrid, and Avalon sedan also made the list of vehicles with the longest potential lifespan. Moreover, the Sienna minivan and Tacoma small-frame pickup also earned top spots. 

Which car lasts the longest?

Of the vehicles in iSeeCars’ study, three of the top four models are Toyotas. Of the car company’s offerings, the Toyota Sequoia SUV is the model to beat. According to the study, 1% of Sequoias have around 296,509 miles on the odometer. Sequoia owners might get their large SUVs to sail past 300,000 miles with proper care and maintenance. Additionally, 14.2% of the Toyota SUV models have over 200,000 miles currently.

The Toyota Land Cruiser is a close second to the Sequoia. 18.2% of Land Cruisers have over 200,000 miles, which puts them ahead of the 1.2% industry average by a dramatic margin. Still, the Land Cruiser’s potential lifespan comes in just behind the Sequoia, with 280,236 miles. 

Which other car company has long-lasting cars?

Three Honda vehicles also earned top spots in the iSeeCars study. First, the Honda Ridgeline pickup truck secured the number eight spot with 248,669 miles. The Pilot SUV and Odyssey minivan follow the Ridgeline, taking the 15th and 16th spots, respectively. In addition to Honda, Chevrolet, GMC, Ford, and Nissan are among the car companies with good longevity numbers.

Regarding the next highest-scoring car company, two Chevrolet SUVs share the top 10 with 6 Toyotas. First, the Suburban secured the number four spot, with 265,732 miles. Unsurprisingly, the Tahoe is number seven, boasting around 4.4% of examples with over 200,000 miles. 

Does a hybrid or EV from any car company make the list? 

In addition to the Toyota Prius, hybrids and EVs from major car companies made the list. For instance, the Toyota Highlander Hybrid and Camry Hybrid secured spots in the top 20. However, no vehicles from an electric car company have EVs with over 200,000 miles on the list as of yet.
