36-year-old Ohio driver pulled over for a headlight violation pretends she’s someone else, gets arrested via her very real warrants anyway
This police beat’s log line is something of a doozy. In Jeffersonville, Ohio, a police officer recently pulled over a 36-year-old woman operating a car with improper headlights. Soon after initiating the traffic stop, the officer realized he was in for a bit of a runaround.
First off, she didn’t present a valid driver’s license. Instead, the officer discovered a suspended non-driver’s license out of New York state.
What’s more, the motorist used a fake name to identify herself. Why, you ask? Well, reportedly, she had several active outstanding warrants and didn’t want to give herself away.
Finally, while the driver didn’t have a proper license anyway, FingerLakes1.com said the officer also figured out that the “real” person had active ignition interlock restrictions in place. In other words, it seems like the motorist has ongoing issues driving under the influence.
Ignition interlock restrictions involve a court concluding that someone shouldn’t drive unless they pass a breathalyzer test first. A formal third party installs the device. After installation, the car’s ignition won’t engage without a passing breathalyzer score.
Driving while violating ignition interlock restrictions can lead to additional fines, license revocation, or even jail time.
The officer arrested the Ohio driver during the traffic stop. She now faces criminal impersonation, aggravated unlicensed operation, and a few other violations. Those include operating a vehicle without adequate headlights and driving outside interlock ignition restrictions. This is all on top of her previous warrants, too.
