The vast majority of healthcare professionals I’ve encountered are kind-hearted, giving people who are driven to help others. But Darnita Turner may be the opposite.

Police arrested the 54-year-old Ohio woman for how she allegedly treated a client.

Turner moved into a 97-year-old patient’s Toledo home in June 2024. By October 17, the family hit a breaking point and contacted police to press charges.

Family alleges insurance fraud and stolen car

The report states Turner first took a $500 insurance reimbursement check the patient had received. She allegedly faked the elderly woman’s signature and deposited the check into her own account.

But that wasn’t enough. Police say she then transferred the title of the victim’s car into her own name—and sold it.

When the 97-year-old woman’s granddaughter learned about this, she flew to Toledo to handle the situation.

The family also alleges that after they fired Turner, she filmed herself taunting the elderly woman and sent the videos to family members. If true, that’s downright cruel.

Turner is scheduled to appear in court on December 19. Her charges include forgery and theft of a motor vehicle from a protected class. We’ll have to wait for a jury to decide whether she’s guilty. In the meantime she’s merely a suspect. Until then, the court has barred her from contacting the victim. That’s probably for the best.
