No one wants a car that will fall apart as soon as possible. Then again, buyers can seek the longest-lasting car they can find and stack the deck in their favor. But if you want one of the top 10 vehicles most likely to hit 250,000 or more miles, only three automakers make the list. And none of them are American.

Toyota, Lexus, and Honda dominated the top 10 longest-lasting vehicles– with no American cars in sight

If you want an American car that also promises the highest likelihood to survive into high mileage, the latest longevity study has bad news for you. Of the top 10 longest-lasting cars, trucks, SUVs, and minivans, none are American.

According to iSeeCars’ 2025 Longest-Lasting Vehicles Study, Toyota absolutely dominated the study. The Japanese car marque secured six of the top 10 and 10 of the top 25 vehicles most likely to hit 250,000 or more miles.

As for American entries in the top 25, Chevrolet and GMC boast just three nameplates. As for Ford and Stellantis-owned American makes, the number is a disheartening zero.

“Toyota, Honda, and their luxury divisions Lexus and Acura have earned a reputation for producing high-quality vehicles,” said Karl Brauer, an executive analyst at iSeeCars. The closest American models to the top 10 nameplates in the study are both Chevrolets: the Silverado 1500 in the No. 13 spot, and the Suburban in the No. 16 spot.

Granted, the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 is three times less likely to reach 250,000 miles and beyond than the Toyota Sequoia. However, the average car has a mere 4.8% chance of reaching that high-mileage benchmark. That means Chevrolet’s flagship pickup truck still stands a decent chance of reaching a quarter of a million miles.

Of course, there’s a caveat. And it’s a big one. Many popular models have the potential to exceed 200,000 or even 250,000 miles- with proper care and maintenance. Pay attention to your service intervals, perform regular oil changes, and keep up with recalls to raise your chances of going the distance.
