Yes, you’re reading this correctly, there is a new Nissan Xterra concept. That’s because Nissan is serious about bringing this rugged off-roading SUV back into action. The concept includes a few upgrades to seriously get your motor running.

The Nissan Xterra concept is an exciting preview

The New Age Nissan Xterra Concept is hanging out at SEMA with incredible upgrades that could potentially preview the upcoming model.

As you may already know, Nissan is building a next-generation Xterra to tackle rivals in the off-roading space like the Ford Bronco and Jeep Wrangler. It was going to be fully electric, but now it will have a hybrid powertrain.

The concept SUV packs some real heat, though! It has a Nissan VK56 5.6-liter V8 engine, which can produce between 400 – 1,000 hp. Plus, it’s paired with a six-speed manual transmission.

That much power and the ability to go on manual ventures into the Ford Bronco and Jeep Wrangler territory. However, the 2025 Toyota 4Runner doesn’t offer a manual transmission.

Overall, the build is sort of a zombie Xterra. It’s built with parts from newer 2022 Nissan Frontier models. It builds upon the Xterra with a Nissan Frontier front end swap, doors, mirrors, bumpers, and dashboard.

It’s planned to go bigger with a suspension lift and larger all-terrain tires. But so far, the carbon fiber vented hood and LED lighting roof mount look great.

Nissan will likely gauge how fans react to this build to provide drivers with what they want. According to MotorTrend, the new Xterra will have a body-on-frame build and share a platform with the Frontier.

Plus, it will be built in America and should arrive by 2028.
