The pickup truck market is extremely competitive. Companies like Ford and Ram often outshine Nissan, but the Japanese automaker has staked its own place amongst the greats. Trucks like the Nissan Titan have kept the company in the race. Now Nissan is gunning for the best pickup truck with its meanest machine yet, the Nissan Navara PRO-4X Warrior.

What makes a good pickup truck?

When it comes to trucks, consumers usually look for two specific attributes: power and towing capability. Truck powertrains have gone from moderate to ridiculous with the advent of new technology and the progression of the automotive industry. Automakers battle for the title of best pickup truck yearly, and the competition is always stiff.

Pickup trucks are only becoming more formidable over time, and Ford has been dominating the market with trucks like the affordable Ford Ranger and the powerful Ford F-150 Raptor. Trucks like the Raptor are hard to beat with a towing capacity of 8,200 lbs and 450 horsepower.

Despite the popularity of Ford and Ram trucks, Nissan still manages to compete with these innovative American brands. The 2021 Nissan Titan makes 400 hp compared to the Ford F-150 Raptor’s 450 hp, but it has a towing capacity of over 9,200 lbs. The Titan was Nissan’s best pickup truck and best chance at staying in the race to build the greatest truck…until now.

Nissan has a new ace up its sleeve. Australia’s Nissan Navara PRO-4X Warrior is undergoing final testing. The Navara PRO-4X Warrior is rumored to be the toughest Nissan truck yet, rivaling Ford models like the Ford F-150 Raptor and Ford Ranger. With the Nissan Titan’s specs already rivaling the Raptor’s, the Navara PRO-4X Warrior is expected to be very popular within its niche.

The Nissan Navara SL King Cab already boasts a towing capacity of over 7,700 lbs, creeping up on the Ford F-150 Raptor. Nissan Australia claims the new off-road pickup will be the world’s toughest Navara, teasing some serious towing capacity and hp. The Navara PRO-4X Warrior’s testing in Melbourne, Australia’s wilderness, proves it’s a monster.

The Nissan Navara PRO-4X Warrior includes an off-road around-view monitor as well as a blind-spot warning. It uses a multi-link coil suspension and a twin-turbo engine. The exterior manages to look exclusive and fierce simultaneously. It’s aesthetically pleasing but also built to tackle off-road challenges.

Nissan’s newest pickup includes collision warning, emergency braking, and moving object detection. The PRO-4X Warrior is quite simply one of the best Nissan pickup trucks manufactured in recent years. It offers insight into what the next Nissan Frontier could look like at the highest trim.

The Warrior will not overpower the Ford F-150 Raptor, but it can be a much more affordable alternative as a high-quality pickup truck with great towing capacity. Its off-road capabilities are admirable, and it’s a great-looking truck. Nissan has been outclassed in previous years, but it appears that the Japanese automaker is ready to give Ford and Ram a run for their money.
