33-year-old oil truck driver Vincent Spano was reversing his dark-green and red oil rig early Friday near E. 61st St. and Lexington Ave. in New York when he ran over Terrill Jenkins in the crosswalk at 4:49 a.m. Spano checked on Jenkins, but instead of rendering aid, he drove off, only to surrender to the police later.
Spano, a Florida resident, drove forward after running over Harlem-based Jenkins and stopped the truck at the corner, according to the complaint. He then got out to check on him.
Jenkins was injured quite badly and needed immediate assistance. However, Spano then hopped into his truck and drove away instead of calling an ambulance.
Daily News reported that EMS rushed Jenkins to New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center, where he died of his injuries about three hours later. First responders said Jenkins was found on the roadway before being taken to the hospital.

Spano Faces Legal Action
He explained that he had hit something while reversing, only to find an injured man, before getting back to his truck and driving away.
Spano was charged with leaving the scene of a fatal crash and failure to exercise due care. Judge Jeffrey Gershuny granted Spano supervised release after prosecutors asked for bail to be set at $75,000 cash or $150,000 bond at his arraignment in Manhattan Criminal Court.
MotorBiscuit reported another horrific crash in New York when a speeding red Hyundai Tucson struck two cyclists in Harlem and dragged them down the road before crashing into a New York Police Department cruiser and a tractor-trailer truck.
Sparks flew from underneath the Tucson as it dragged the cyclists down the road at around 8:05 p.m. Pedestrians strolling near West 125th Street and Frederick Douglass Boulevard could be seen jumping out of the way in the video as the 49-year-old driver showed no sign of lifting his foot off the gas pedal.
One person who works nearby said, “We saw the bike over there. The black [cyclist] was moving a little bit, his head was bleeding like crazy, but the Spanish guy looked like he was sleeping.
“[The driver] looked like he was drunk or something. You cannot speed like that.”
Authorities stated that both cyclists, who were in critical condition, were rushed to the hospital. Unfortunately, the 28-year-old cyclist was later pronounced dead.
