The march toward electric vehicles continues with a slow procession toward the new electric Jeep SUVs coming our way. Over the next couple of years, Jeep will bring a few new SUVs to the market that will use only electricity to fuel and power them. Although scant on details, we have the names of three of these new models and the predicted availability dates. Let’s dive in and see the Jeep EV models coming to the market.

What are the new electric Jeep SUVs called?

Stellantis informs us that a formal debut of the first Jeep EV models will take place on October 17 at the Paris Auto Show. This first model is called Avenger, and it will be produced in Poland for the European and Asian markets. The other new electric Jeep models are:

  • Recon
  • Wagoneer S
  • Unnamed Model (a player to be named later for you baseball fans)

What is the new Jeep Avenger?

This new electric Jeep SUV is a subcompact model that’s already hit the roads in its prototype form. This model should arrive in the market first, but it’s not planned for North America. The Avenger uses the CMP platform, which is versatile and used for both electric and internal combustion models.

Could the new Jeep Recon be the off-road electric jeep SUV you want to drive?

Thankfully, the Jeep Recon is scheduled to arrive in the United States. This SUV, along with the Wagoneer S, will debut in 2023 and be sold as a 2024 model. The Jeep Recon should be the off-road alternative to the Wrangler, offering the trail-riding prowess we admire about the Wrangler.

The Recon rides on the Stellantis STLA Large dedicated EV platform, which brings this SUV:

  • Selec-Terrain traction management
  • E-locker axle
  • Under-body protection
  • Tow hooks
  • Off-road tires
  • Removable doors
  • Power roof

Does the Wagoneer S offer the electric Jeep SUV qualities you desire?

The only model of the new Jeep EVs for which we have any statistics is the Jeep Wagoneer S. This electric vehicle reaches the luxury levels of driving while being a midsize SUV, which is a bit smaller than the Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer models we see currently.

The new Jeep Wagoneer S has off-road capabilities, but it also offers the power we desire. Jeep expects to release this SUV with 600 horsepower and acceleration to rocket this vehicle to 60 mph in only 3.5 seconds. The anticipated driving range is 400 miles, but we’re unsure if that’s on the European scale or the American EPA rating.

A fourth electric Jeep SUV without a name

Jeep confirmed a fourth electric SUV but did not have any details regarding this new vehicle. This unnamed SUV might be similar in size to the current Jeep Cherokee, but that’s only speculation at this point.

How else is Jeep working toward more electrification?

Not everything that we see for the future is a fully-electric vehicle. Jeep currently offers us two plug-in hybrid models: the Wrangler 4xe and Grand Cherokee 4xe. This brand plans to add a PHEV model to the rest of the lineup by 2025.

As more details about the new electric Jeep SUVs become available, we’ll add reports and reviews for these models. More details should be offered on October 17 at the Paris Auto Show.
