Miracle Alert: The New Chevy Camaro Probably Won’t Be an Electric SUV
It took American drivers a few years to push back against electric vehicles, and it looks like progress is being made. Many EV projects are being delayed or cancelled. Plus, the next Chevy Camaro could be a two-door coupe instead of an electric SUV.
The Chevy Camaro could return as a sports car
In a devastating move, the Chevrolet Camaro was discontinued, leaving the Ford Mustang free to dominate the market. But when the Chevy Camaro was pulled, it was only supposed to be a temporary move.
Chevrolet was planning to make a massive shift to electric vehicles to meet increasingly strict emission regulations. This led to several rumors about the Camaro being transformed into an electric SUV.
In fact, rumors suggested that the Camaro EV would have the same dual-motor all-wheel-drive build as the Chevy Blazer SS. It would be a fastback four-door sedan to battle the Ford Mustang Mach-E.
While Chevrolet is benefiting from increasing EV sales, the electric models aren’t doing as well as planned. As a result, things may have changed.
To promote Tomorrow’s Vision Day, the General Motors Design Team shared four images of future concepts. A teaser image of a two-door coupe was included, and it’s fueling hopes and dreams.
The Camaro name is still alive, and the Trump Administration is easing emissions violations. Plus, General Motors is spending money to develop a next-generation V8 engine that could be greener.
Sure, it could be meant for trucks and SUVs, but all of the signs suggest that the Chevy Camaro could make a comeback. In 2023, the Camaro sold 31,028 cars. It could certainly boost sales if it returns with what drivers actually want.
