Heading out into the horizon for an undetermined amount of time sounds just about right for one of these insanely luxurious campers. Airstream’s Atlas costs so much more than a truck or SUV with a roof top tent. Its price tag towers above even a luxe DIY camper conversion.

In fact, many Americans paid less for their home than this luxurious camper costs. Is it worth it?

What’s new for the Airstream Atlas?

The all-new Airstream Atlas has some updates. Built over the the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 3500 platform, the Atlas features a modernized 10.3 inch infotainment center. The 2019 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter showed its more technical side by offering this tech upgrade. Now, it’s inside the new Airstream Atlas, too.

The off-grid prowler implements an air suspension and a 3.0-liter turbo-diesel V-6. This means gas mileage that is downright competitive when it comes to these typically gas-guzzling home away from homes. In a new Atlas, you’ll get 16-18 mpg. That’s roughly the same as a large family-sized SUV.

Equipped with ints own diesel generator plus 300-watt solar installment provide ample power so that you and your travel crew can be self sufficient off the grid. And, for when you get bored, there’s a prewired hide away satellite TV. You probably won’t even need the satellite capability though, because you’ll be streaming Netflix with the onboard Wi-Fi.

A luxury mini fridge, microwave oven, and a stainless steel sink that you could actually do dishes in give this be-wheeled box the perfect place for cooking when you’re on the road and you can’t afford to eat out because you just bought an Atlas.

But if you were planning a mobilized Friendsgiving feast you may want to park in your mom’s driveway and use her kitchen. Because the Airstream’s counter space is is anything but spacious.

According to this article by Car and Driver, the luxurious bathroom of the all-new Airstream Atlas is located in the rear. The bedroom will make you feel right at home and so will the walk-in shower.

Wood details show Airstream’s painstaking attention to detail in addition to other upscale aspects like a vanity inset with a stainless steel sink. There is also a cedar lined closet to fill up with anything you might need or want on the road in this luxury rolling cabin on wheels.

The price is daunting

If you are starting to think all of these amazing features sound too good to be true, they’re not –– as long as you don’t mind spending a ridiculous amount of money.

The brand new Airstream Atlas will take you blazing down the highway to your next destination. It will keep you cozy and create the perfect place for you to lounge around from place to place. But it will cost about the same as a house.

The Airstream Atlas touring coach will set you back $238,071. And if you can swing it, we totally recommend. But unfortunately this mini mansion on wheels isn’t exactly realistic for most. It’s still pretty fun to take a peak though, because we think almost anyone can envision themselves on a road trip in one of these.
